Weekend Open Thread

NFL: Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning!

Hope you had a great work week and are looking forward to a weekend full of fun, family, bacon and football! The bye week is finally over as our beloved Vikings take the field Sunday against the Bears in Chicago. Fortunately for me I’ll be able to watch the game in my stadium of one with beer, chips and guacamole (hand made, not that store bought crap). While we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our weekend news, links and Open Thread of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes and maybe some Vikings news and gouge sprinkled in. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. With that, let’s do this.

Around the DN since our last thread:

Listen to Chris talk Vikings at Bears with Shawn & Maya in the Morning.

Chris has the final injury reports for the Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears.

Changing of the guard in the NFC North from Ted, had to be a gourd joke in there somewhere right?

Wludford Ponders four weeks in prime time may determine the Vikings playoff fate.

Norse Code Podcast Episode 257: Surprisingly dangerous Bears with Lorin Cox.

Finally, from our own Admiral Big Guns, Proof that Vikings fans are the best.

Vikings news from other sources:

Head Coach Mike Zimmer joined Paul Allen on this week’s “Vikings GamePlan” to discuss the changes in Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky from last season to this season and more.

The Skinny Post: Division lead up for grabs as Vikings, Bears meet in prime time.

Vikings stress importance of keeping tabs on Khalil Mack.

Vikings WR Chad Beebe excited for Chicago homecoming, hope for a breakout game for him.

From Courtney Cronin at the ESPN NFC North blog the Vikings will have hands full with Khalil Mack, Bears’ defense.

At 1500espn LB Anthony Barr questionable, the Vikings will mostly be at full strength vs. Bears.

League news:

Consistent with the weekend thread I’ll post league news in the comments section.

We come to today’s media selection: With the passing of Stan Lee here’s every Stan Lee Cameo Ever (1989 - 2018)

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
