Good morning, everyone
First, before we talk about that........”game” last night, I want to say Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife. Starting today, she is older than me (going by years of age) for 1 1⁄2 months, and I will remind her of that fact daily.
Now, the game. Okay, so you remember going to family reunions, and you get to meet some of your cousins for the first time? There are some that are.........attractive. That fact kinda enters your mind when you meet them, then you remember that they are your cousin, and you admonish yourself & you make sure to avoid doing anything that may be misconstrued as flirting & stuff for the rest of the reunion. Well, the Cousins we met last night was not the attractive Cousins. He was the very unattractive Cousins. You don’t have to force yourself to keep from flirting with the Cousins of last night.
Everyone has off days, and I understand that, but his night last night was beyond “off”. He threw two picks when his team’s offense was in range to score, and he also threw a touchdown.....to the other team. He also missed receivers all night, seemed to be on a different page than the receiver at times, and just flat-out played horribly. I hope to never meet that Cousins again, and I really don’t think we will.
If there is good news, it is that even though the offense was a roaring dumpster fire, the team somehow only lost by 5. The defense wasn’t perfect, but they kept the game from being what the Eagles-Saints game was, so I guess that’s one small ray of sunshine. Other than that, the season isn’t over, I still think we’ll win the NFC North, and I hope that I never see the offense play that poorly again. That was not pleasant to watch, and I am thankful that I don’t drink like I did when I was young, or I would not be feeling well right now.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris has your post-”game” wrap-up.
Chris shared a link where you can watch Alan Page receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A great honor for a great man.
Roc Thomas turned down other offers in order to stay with the Vikings.
Vikings news from other sources:
Over at Vikings.com, here’s a link to the media vault. I don’t feel like looking in there yet, so if you want to see highlights & such, you go ahead. Maybe tomorrow.
Catch up all the week 11 NFL scores and highlights, courtesy of NFL.com.
Okay, this caught me off-guard. From the New York Post, Mark Sanchez is getting another shot at the NFL.
I now have to post this:
The Sporting News has their take on the updated NFL playoff picture.
We come to today’s media selection:
As far as explaining how it felt to watch our offense last night, no one can sum it up better than Statler and Waldorf.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
- No discussion of politics or religion
- No feeding of the trolls
- This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
- Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
- Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
- No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
- If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
- While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the rotting burger that has been grilled over a burning dumpster
