Kickers and the Minnesota Vikings go together about as well as salt water taffy and green peppers, going all the way back to 1998. Between Gary Anderson, Blair Walsh, Kai Forbath not making extra points, and the infamous 29-29 tie in week two, the Vikings have a more tragic history with kickers than the planet Earth does when Germany starts a war (look it’s a joke so spare me the sanctimonious ‘how can you compare football to the two most destructive wars ever blah blah blah).
As most of you know, each week the NFL hands out ‘Player of the Week’ awards in each conference for the top offensive, defensive, and special teams player. And if you were unaware...every week the NFL hands out ‘Player of the Week’ awards in each conference for the top offensive, defensive, and special teams player. You’re welcome.
This week, the NFL handed out their Special Teams Player of the Week awards, and they both hit home to Vikings fans:

Yes, yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. Former Vikings kicker Daniel ‘I couldn’t hit air if I was thrown out of an airplane’ Carlson hit a clutch, game winning field goal for the Raiders against the Cardinals on Sunday, and won the AFC award. In the NFC, Cody Parkey, who missed four kicks the week prior to the Vikings game, hit all three of his attempts on Sunday Night, and was instrumental in the Bears topping the Vikings 25-20.
So yeah, sure, congratulations to guys that can’t make anything until they leave the Vikings or play against them.
Somewhere, the Football Gods are just drinking a beer and laughing their rear ends off, aren’t they?
