Merry Tuesday, everyone!

Man, I’m thankful that Rhodes’ injury wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. I thought his hammy was kurplut. I guess it’s actually true that you can’t diagnose an injury by watching the play on TV, especially when you aren’t a doctor. Whodathunkit?

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Ted looks at the Vikings playoff future one week removed from an ugly loss. It’s looking brighter than it did last week at this time. I don’t think shades are required yet, but it’s looking bright (you know what the media selection will be, don’t you?).

Chris shared the very relieving news that Rhodes’ injury was not as bad as most people thought.

Eric highlights five game-changing plays from Sunday’s win.

Wludford points out that the Vikings still have not beaten a winning team. They’ll have a shot to get their first one of the season in about 5 days, I think they’re gonna do it.

Here’s Holton Hill, who may have to be the next man up, from Wludford.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

Over at, catch Coach Zimmer’s Monday presser, take another look at that clutch catch by Diggs to seal Sunday’s victory, and there’s a lot more to sift through in the media vault.

From, the Bengals have placed Andy Dalton on IR because of a thumb injury he suffered on Sunday against the Browns, and the Lions have placed Marvin Jones on IR, further depleting their already anemic WR corps.

Hours after firing the offensive coordinator, HC Doug Marrone also benched Blake Bortles, per ESPN. For some reason, the head coach actually had to explain the decision during a press conference. I’m serious, someone actually must have asked him why. I wish someone would ask me a question that dumb in a public forum.

We come to today’s media selection:

As promised, here’s a great tune from the 80s, which is one of the best decades in music, possibly only topped by the 70s. You can disagree, but you’d be wrong. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the grilled cheese
