Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has had quite the year.
He is currently first in the NFL with 93 receptions, is second with 1,138 receiving yards and is tied at fifth with eighth touchdowns. Those numbers are getting Thielen the national attention he so rightly deserves, but they are also helping his bank account.
Ben Goessling from the Star Tribune has reported that Thielen will receive a $600,000 bonus by getting 80 catches this season. In addition to that bonus, he has added an additional million dollars to his 2018 salary for having 90 catches last year. That will take him from $2.85 to $3.85 million. He will also boost his 2019 salary from $3.85 to $5.85 million by getting 90 catches in 2017 and 2018. And all of that doesn’t include a 2020 bonus that will take him from $5.35 to $8.35 million if he can snag another 90 catch season next year, which we’re all sure he will.
But what, there’s more. If Theilen goes to the Pro Bowl (look, here’s the link where you can vote for him and other members of the Vikings) he will make $500,000.
He has made $3.6 million in addition to his contract which is $19.246 million. Thielen was a steal for the Vikings when he re-signed but don’t think he won’t ask for more when that time comes, and that the Vikings won’t give it to him.
