Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs: Thursday Night Football discussion

It’s a big one in the AFC West

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Thursday night, folks, and that means that Week 15 of the 2018 NFL season is officially underway. In a game that has a lot of potential ramifactions in the AFC. . .not to mention for some of your fantasy football leagues. . .the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.

These two teams met in the season opener out in Los Angeles, with the Chiefs coming away with a 38-28 victory. Pat Mahomes threw four touchdown passes, three of them to Tyreek Hill, to help his team get the road victory. The Chargers will be without their top two running backs, Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler, so they’ll have to hope that rookie Justin Jackson can carry the load out of the backfield.

The Chiefs are the only team in the AFC thus far that has clinched a postseason berth, and they can officially wrap up the AFC West title and a first-round bye with a win tonight. If the Chiefs win this one and the New England Patriots lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers later this week, the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC will officially run through Arrowhead.

For the Chargers, a win tonight would pull them into a tie for first place in the division with Kansas City and lock up a playoff spot for them as well. The Chargers have the second-best record in the AFC at 10-3 (behind the Chiefs’ 11-2 mark), but because of their second-place standing in the division would be the #5 seed in the AFC playoffs if the season ended today.

If you’re going to be watching this one anyway, feel free to hang out here and talk about it with your fellow Minnesota Vikings fans, folks! It’s just about time for kickoff on Thursday Night Football.
