Friday Open Thread

Good Morning!

From the looks of it last night’s game between the Chiefs and Chargers was a pretty good, I got home too late to take any of it in unfortunately. Hopefully the Vikings will find a spark on offense Sunday with their new offensive coordinator that will carry the team to victory and beyond. Reminder, if you’re going to the game so is Gone Fishin, feel free to drop him an email and meet him for an adult beverage. While we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our news and links full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and a virtual donut. With that, let’s do this beat the Dolphins!

Around the DN since our last thread:

Chris and Eric have a spot where you can keep up to date on all the Vikings-Dolphins news.

Chris has your Vikings injury report update: Everybody practices on Thursday!

Vikings vs. Dolphins Week 15 Preview: No One Left To Blame writes Eric.

Chris ponders Todd McShay’s first mock draft shows he really understands the Minnesota Vikings.

Vikings news from other sources:

From new OC Kevin Stefanski Stefanski addressed the media: “Time Doesn’t Stop For Us ... We’re Charged With Winning On Sunday.”

Stefanski’s philosophical influences a varied as his roles with the Vikings.

Presser Points: Stefanski on Cousins, Edwards on Tannehill, Priefer on blocked FG.

Lunchbreak: DE Danielle Hunter leads the NFC DE’s in Pro Bowl voting.

At 1500espn Matthew Coller says Mackensie Alexander is turning a corner at the nickel position.

Also from Matthew, the Vikings special teams coach goes in depth on Walsh, Carlson and kicking curses.

The ESPN NFC North blog has a “pick your Miracle, Minneapolis or Miami”

League news:

From QB Kirk Cousins: “I take ownership of Vikings’ offensive woes.”

Eagles QB Carson Wentz is dealing with a fracture in his back.

Maybe only interesting to me, but from SB Nation writer Louis Bien “This is the golden age of NFL punting.” It’s a very well done article, give it a read.

We come to today’s media selection: Disturbed - A Reason To Fight

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
