On Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings released their initial injury report as they started preparations for their game on Sunday against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The injury list for the Vikings has gotten much shorter over the past few weeks, which is a positive sign, but there are still a couple of significant names on the list.
The big one is that of linebacker Eric Kendricks, who was the only member of the team to sit out of Wednesday’s practice session. Kendricks was limited in a couple of practices last week because of a rib issue, but this is being listed as a hamstring injury, so it’s a completely new injury he’s dealing with. I’m not sure if he injured himself in the win over the Dolphins, and if so I’m not sure when he did it. Still, it was enough to have him sitting out this afternoon.
Three members of the Vikings were listed as limited participants on Wednesday. Wide receiver Chad Beebe (hamstring) continues to be limited, but that’s still a step forward from where he’s been for most of the past few weeks. Tight end David Morgan (knee) and guard Mike Remmers (low back) were limited in practice all week last week, and continue to be limited to start this week’s practices as well.
Here’s a full accounting of the Vikings’ initial Week 16 injury report:
Did Not Participate: LB Eric Kendricks (hamstring)
Limited Participation: WR Chad Beebe (hamstring), TE David Morgan (knee), G Mike Remmers (low back)
Full Participation: LS Kevin McDermott (elbow)
We’ve seen a lot of big names for the Vikings on the injury report these past few weeks, whether it’s Adam Thielen or Stefon Diggs or Xavier Rhodes or any of the other starters. To start this week, however, those are the only five names on the injury report for the purple.
As the Vikings release updates to their injury reports, we will relay those updates to you here.
