The team needed the offense to step it up. They didn’t. Congrats to the Bears on a great season.

That was.........

I don’t know, it was just......the end.

In symbolic unity with the 2018 NFL season, yesterday began with so much promise for the Vikings and their fans, and it ended in utter disappointment. We slowly watched our playoff chances sink into oblivion, and the only sound heard at US Bank Stadium was the sound of the season, as it was flushed down the proverbial toilet.

The offense was terrible, there’s no other way to say it, it stunk. Cousins looked like he was wound up tighter than an eight-day clock, and he played like it, too. There really isn’t much to say, they did very little the entire game. The little back-and-forth between Thielen and Cousins (which will get blown WAAAAAYYYYYY out of proportion by pretty much every media outlet) was the only sign of life we saw on that side of the ball all day. I’m not sure what the solution is, but I know there is far too much talent in that group to put up performances like we saw yesterday, and like we’ve seen for most of the year.

There are many options on the table, and I would imagine they will all be explored by the Wilfs. No one is guaranteed to come back next year, from the top to the bottom. I don’t know what to expect, but I expect we’ll see some changes in key positions in the Vikings front office and/or coaching staff before next year. I don’t believe in making moves “just to do something”, but I do believe there is a problem on the Vikings offense, and it needs to be addressed.

I’m sure we’ll discuss in much more detail as the days....weeks.......and months go by. This sucks, it’s going to be a long off-season. I probably won’t link much below, as I’m ***ed, and will likely be so for a few days as I process what I just watched.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Ted stumbled by, and he dropped off his Stock Market Report: Bears. Well, he kinda threw it at the door while yelling obscenities and mumbling incoherently, but it’s here for you to read.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

Here is a link to the media vault at Vikings.com, they’ll have interviews, pressers, and highlights. Feel free to look, I don’t have the stomach to look through it right now.

CBS Sports has your 2019 NFL playoff schedule.

We come to today’s media selection:

This popped into my head as I half-heartedly tried to think of a song for today. I love me some Skynard.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try.........nothing, I suggest having nothing. Just sit here with your beer and be angry, you’ll fit right in.
