Vikings injury report update: There is no update

Because nothing has changed since Thursday

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at New York Jets Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings released their second injury report of the week, and all they had to do was change the date on it.

That’s because nobody’s status changed from Thursday to Friday as far as practice participation is concerned. Let’s review what that report was.

Did not participate: WR Chad Beebe (hamstring), LB Eric Kendricks (rib), TE David Morgan (knee), CB Trae Waynes (concussion)

Limited participation: WR Stefon Diggs (knee)

Full participation: G Mike Remmers (low back), CB Xavier Rhodes (hamstring), WR Brandon Zylstra (foot)

Waynes and Kendricks both missed their second consecutive practice, which means that they need to call Kenny Loggins, because they’re in the danger zone. At least as far as playing on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks, anyway. However, head coach Mike Zimmer seems to be optimistic about their chances of playing.

When asked before Friday’s practice if there is any chance Kendricks or Waynes will be out Monday, Zimmer said, “No.” When asked for clarification that he believes both will play, Zimmer said, “I assume so.”

I would have to think that’s a little trickier for Waynes, given the nature of concussions, than it would be for Kendricks. As we pointed out on the initial injury report from yesterday, this is Waynes’ second concussion of the year, so the odds of him playing on Monday wouldn’t seem to be that good. We’ll have to see how things shake out after Saturday’s practice, when I assume that Waynes will have another chance to clear concussion protocol.
