Monday Open Thread: February 12, 2018

Happy Monday, everyone!

I’m just getting up to speed on everything, I made a cool discovery this weekend, and ever since, I’ve been cut off from the world. There’s a small closet in our basement, and I commented that it seemed like the back wall should have room behind it. We bought the place, moved in, filled it with stuff, did a bunch of projects, etc. & didn’t really think much about it again. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been thinking about it again, and on Saturday, I got a wild hair & pulled everything out and cut the wall out, just to satisfy my curiosity. Lo and behold, there’s a room back there! I was like Geraldo, except I actually found something (those of you alive in the 80s will get it).

It only has a four foot ceiling (yes Chuck & Supa, I can walk right in), but it’s about 150-200 square feet. I figured I’ll make it a play room for kiddo, & eventually a storage room. So, I spent the rest of Saturday & Sunday running some wire (putting in an outlet & a couple lights), fixing all the screw-ups the builder made when they built it (seriously, buy a level and a square if you’re building homes), and I got it all framed up & ready for insulation & sheet rock, hopefully I can have it insulated & rocked by tomorrow night, & spend the week taping & mudding so I can paint & lay carpet by the weekend. I’ll post some pics in the comments, what a cool weekend.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Leslie Frazier is going to be interviewed by the Colts for their head coaching vacancy. I like Frazier, he didn’t have a great run here, but I respect him & hope he does well (except when his team plays the Vikings, of course).

John DeFilippo (I always want to put a second “L” in his name) met with the Twin Cities media.

The Vikings denied the Giants an opportunity to interview/hire their current QB coach Kevin Stefanski. Chris points out that Stefanski could be an insurance policy for the Vikings, in the event of DeFilippo’s departure, as he will likely be hired as a HC somewhere next year.

Jimmy Garopollo’s extension won’t affect this year’s franchise tag, per Chris.

Several of the Vikings’ plays made the NFL’s Top 100 Plays of 2017.

I’ll update more in a bit & put a media selection up. Sorry, it’s late, I’m tired, & I gotta be up early. I will have it updated as soon as I’m able.
