The Daily Norseman Open Thread, where the Vikings don’t have an off-season

Merry Thirsty Thorsday, everyone!

Hey, we’ve nearly made it to another glorious weekend. Anyone have any plans? Making something on the grill/smoker? Oooooh, something in the crock pot perhaps? I may do something on the smoker, it’s been weeks since I’ve made something on there & it’s time. Possibly a prime rib. I dunno, something yummy, I’m gettin’ the itch.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared a report that the Jets are prepared to offer $60 million up front for Kirk Cousins. Holy moley. Does anyone still think we should get into that bidding war? If so, could you politely ask the bartender to bring me whatever you’re having? Thanks.

Chris also shared a story of a neat thing the Vikings foundation did for Eagles fans who donated. I think that’s a really cool move on their part, bravo.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:

From the Strib, Vikings Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo said ‘we’re going to get it fixed’, when asked about the QB situation.

From Vikings.com, see a video showing that the Vikings practice facility at the TCO Performance Center is complete, and watch Wobby chat with John DeFilippo.

Josh Gordon is NOT an unrestricted free agent, he is an exclusive rights free agent, per NFL.com (via Ian Rapoport). This basically means that Gordon remains under the Browns’ control, and he cannot negotiate with other teams.

We come to today’s media selection.

I got into a little convo about some REAL country music yesterday, so here’s one of the great ones for ya’. Enjoy.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
