In less than a week, the Minnesota Vikings will officially be cutting the ribbon on their new headquarters in Eagan, and it’s going to have everything. The most important part is probably the fact that it’s going to host the team’s Training Camp, as they’ll be moving there after ending their 50-plus year relationship with Minnesota State University in Mankato after the conclusion of last year’s camp.
If you’re going to be heading to Training Camp at the new facility, it looks like you might even be able to tailgate, according to the Sun This Week newspaper.
The Eagan City Council officially approved a planned development amendment Tuesday allowing the Vikings to sell alcoholic beverages and allow tailgating on their property.
The Vikings are expecting fans to want to drink and grill during events such as training camp and a potential NFL Draft. There will also be private parties at the practice facility and headquarters where organizers would likely want to serve alcohol.
The Vikings are continuing to talk with the city about whether or not there will be open flames allowed on the grounds of the facility. For such things to be allowed, there are going to have to be a whole lot of restrictions. . .obviously. The article states, however, that the Vikings envision there eventually being two or three areas where open flames will be allowed a safe distance away from vehicles.
Hopefully we’ll be able to bring you a lot more news about the new facility when it opens its doors on 1 March.
