Merry Wednesday, everyone!
We’re beginning the long, slow trek through the off-season. It looks like we’ll be waiting another week to find out about the OC decision due to one of the NFL rules that make no sense. You can interview an offensive/defensive coordinator when that OC/DC is on a team still in the playoffs, but when the season’a over, we have to wait a while, just because. Idiotic. I get the lateral move, blah blah nonsense. I know their rationale for making the rule, I just think their rationale is dumb. Whatever, end of rant.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Vikings can’t interview Eagles QB Coach John Filippo until Valentine’s Day, and the Vikings appear to be okay with waiting. It seems that Filippo is their preferred choice, and I’m okay with that. He wouldn’t be here more than a year or two before getting a HC gig (assuming his time here is successful, which it will be), but if he can get the offense running on all 8, I’ll take it.
Josh McDaniels has changed his mind and will not be the Colts’ next head coach (smart move, IMO), and that could affect the Vikings’ hunt for an OC, per Chris.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
1500ESPN looks at the offensive line in part 5 of The Future of the Vikings.
From ESPN, Carson Wentz is now engaged to be married. Good for him, he’s one of the good guys, I wish him all the best. Hey, here’s a thought. Foles won for the Eagles, so IF Teddy isn’t physically able to play QB, the Eagles should keep Foles & trade Wentz to Minnesota. I like the idea and since Wentz is a Vikes fan, I’m sure he’d be on board.
ESPN tells us why Josh McDaniels decided to stay in New England (like they know).
We come to today’s media selection.
Those bad lip readers at the NFL are at it again! Here’s the latest installment.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
