Before I get too deep into the weeds here, I think the answer to the question asked in the post title is “no,” but we’re now almost to the start of the “legal tampering” period of free agency, and a contract that many thought would have been done by now still is not.
Less than 16 hours before the negotiating window opens, no deal is done yet between the #Saints and Drew Brees, per source. Still time to get it done in the morning. Otherwise, other teams can start (legally) making their pitch to the 39-year-old QB at noon Eastern.

Close, Personal Friend of the Daily Norseman Tom Pelissero™ points out that Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have still not yet come to terms on a contract that would keep him in the Big Easy. It’s not known at this point how much Brees is looking for in terms of money, but you would have to think that it would be on par with what Kirk Cousins is apparently looking for on a per-year basis, somewhere in the $27 to $30 million range annually.
I know that the odds of getting Brees into a Minnesota Vikings’ uniform are a long shot at best. . .even Lloyd Christmas would think it was a ridiculous proposition. But, if he doesn’t have his name on a contract before 3:00 PM Central time tomorrow. . .
I mean, you at least have to make him and his agent turn you down, right? Don’t you?
Granted, inking the 39-year old Brees to a deal would bring a different dynamic to the quarterback situation than signing the 29-year old Cousins (or Case Keenum or Teddy Bridgewater or Sam Bradford, for that matter). The team would almost certainly have to use a high pick on a quarterback to develop behind Brees, in that scenario. Sure, they should probably do that regardless of what quarterback they might sign, but it would be a more pressing need with Brees there than it would be with those other potential options.
Of course, Arif paints this scenario, which probably wouldn’t surprise anyone, either.
You're right, but in the back of my head I can't help but think it would be extremely Vikings to swing for Brees and because of that whiff on Cousins

Still, it’s potentially something to think about, and since we’ve pretty well beaten the quarterback discussion into the ground over the past few weeks, what’s a few more whacks with the shovel, eh?
