A very merry Monday to you all!
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, gotta be rested up to make it through another long, boring NFL off-season week. I don’t expect to hear much more news from our beloved purple. A lower to mid-tier free agency signing perhaps, but not much worth getting excited over, they’ve reached their quota for off-season excitement already.
Hey, I made a beer can chicken on the smoker yesterday, it was amazing. I made the rub using the recipe I found at tailgatemaster.com: http://www.tailgatemaster.com/whole-chicken-in-the-smoker/. I used Modelo, since the store doesn’t carry Stella in the can anymore, they didn’t have any in the cooler, either.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Daily Norseman community mock draft starts today! Join in the fun & festivities.
The NFL is looking into fan behavior at the NFC Championship game, per Chris.
Chris, Ted, and Eric are dutifully keeping you up to speed on Vikings FA moves with the Free Agency Tracker 2018.
Shamar Stephen has been signed by the Seattle Seahawks, per Chris. They finally got an ex-Viking signed before Carolina snatched them up, it’s been a while.
Chris has v4.0 of the 2018 Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database.
Saxyprince sees a teachable moment for the front office, stemming from the Sharrif Floyd situation.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:
1500ESPN sees some solid D-role players for the D-line who are still available in free agency.
At Vikings.com, Wobby opened the Monday Morning Mailbag, Mike Daniels says the Packers should be the NFC North favorites (he did a great job keeping a straight face when he said that), Pete Bercich goes to the film room to look at the lethal potential of a Richardson-Joseph combo, and there’s lots more to sift through in the media vault.
ESPN wonders what the Vikings will do on O-line now that Berger and Sirles are out.
The Jets pulled the offer the made to Ndamukong Suh, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. They did sign Terelle Pryor, though.
From CBS Sports, the Steelers ‘hit pause’ on contract talks with Le’Veon Bell. Odd, I didn’t realize that they had hit play.
We come to today’s media selection.
It’s been way too long since I’ve played Jimmy Buffet on here, and it’s Monday, so here we go!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
