Merry Wednesday, everyone!
We’re halfway through another week of this long off-season. Man, the draft is still a long ways away.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The deadline for teams to use their transition/franchise tag passed yesterday, and the Vikings used neither, to the surprise of no one, per Chris.
Chris shared a story from ESPN, where they have a unique and intriguing solution to the Vikings’ QB dilemma.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
Here’s a neat, somewhat personal story. Jim Gremmels has been hired as the assistant equipment manager for the Vikings, from KFYR TV. Jim was the equipment manager here in Bismarck at the University of Mary, and he also happens to be a friend of my wife’s. They met when they both worked at Mayville State back in the late 90s, my wife was the head volleyball coach and Jim was the equipment manager. My wife says he’s a really nice guy, one of those who’s loved by everyone, I love it when good people have good things happen to them. Cool stuff.
1500ESPN thinks the Vikings should pick up TE Trey Burton, who won’t be returning to Philadelphia.
From Vikings.com, Tom Pelissero breaks down what he thinks the Vikings will do at the running back position, Wobby opens the Pick 6 Mailbag, and there’s QB speculation and other videos to look through in the media vault.
From NFL.com, the Steelers once again used the franchise tag on Le’Veon Bell.
ESPN takes a look at Aldon Smith’s disastrous descent out of the NFL. Wasted talent, man. Wasted talent.
We come to today’s media selection.
All that Favre talk yesterday made me think of this one. Man, that was a fun year.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
