Merry Tuesday, everyone!
Ohhhhhhh, I see, so TODAY is the 10th. Thanks to rob for the save yesterday, that could have cause some confusion. But honestly, it’s not really my fault that everyone else on earth was a day behind me. Try to keep up, please.
Okay, so draft day is approaching, and for the first time in quite a few years, I have no earthly idea who the Vikings will choose in the first round. A couple reasons for that, 1) we have no areas of OHMYGODWENEEDANOFFENSIVETACKLE. There are areas of need, of course, but no positions of nuclear wasteland, like the team has had in the not so distant past. 2) at the 30th pick, it’s hard to tell who will even be there, 3) we may not even pick in the first, I wouldn’t die of shock if we traded back out of the first round. If there are any positions to call a “biggest need”, I’d go with O line (could probably say that every year for almost every team), some young D-line talent/depth, and possibly the third LB position or more secondary depth. It’ll be interesting to watch, and see who falls unexpectedly. With some freedom and flexibility, the team could move up a few spots if a rock star falls unexpectedly, or they could move back if there’s no one they’re enamored with at the tail end of the first.
No matter what happens, I’ll be eating a tasty dead something or other from the smoker. If anyone’s going to be in Bismarck for the draft and would like to swing by, let me know via email (in my profile). The food will be plentiful, and there will be nothing but Vikings fans.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Ted was back with Ted Mock 4.0: Live Free or Mock Hard.
We’re at pick 14, as the division rival Green Bay Packers are on the clock in the 2018 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:
The Sheldon Richardson signing tops the list of ‘NFL’s most underrated free agency moves’, per Lindsey Young at Vikings.com. Also from the Vikings.com media vault, Wobby is joined by Daniel Jeremiah as they open the Pick 6 Mailbag, see Mike Zimmer fly over the twin cities in a Chinook helicopter (I’ve had the experience of flying in one of those), and there’s a few other videos for you to look through over there.
Courtney Cronin looks at where the Vikings roster and salary cap stand as free agency goes into a slow crawl.
From CBS Sports, Andrew Luck still hasn’t even thrown a football and hasn’t revealed a timeline for his return.
Also at CBS Sports, Tim Tebow has an offer to play football. The offer came from a familar face, and although it’s not for an NFL team......yet, it’s at least playing his chosen sport.
Wow, the Raiders seem to be really crumbling after starting last season as some folks’ favorites to knock the Patriots off as kings of the AFC. Their star DE/LB, Khalil Mack is a no-show at voluntary team workouts, according to NFL.com. That’s what the article says, but if the workout is voluntary, is he really considered a no-show? I’d probably say he’s just not volunteering, but whatever.
We come to today’s media selection.
After a lovely few inches of snow last weekend (yes, that was sarcasm), here in the state of ND, they are expecting another winter storm to hit this weekend. Here’s the region’s favorite amateur weatherman, Frankie MacDonald, to tell us all about it.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
