Hey, it’s April, which means it’s.........NFL draft month!

Merry Monday, everyone!

I hope you all had a relaxing Easter weekend with your families and/or friends. We helped kiddo follow some rabbit tracks to his Easter basket, then went out to my brother’s farm & ate way too much & then chopped some wood to stock up the supply for our fire pit.

Hey, it’s April, which means there are fewer than 30 more days of mock drafts and arguing over whether eye tests trump combine scores. We’ll see who the purple and gold will choose to add to their already strong roster. To me, the Vikings don’t seem to have any glaring needs. We have areas of need, such as offensive line, defensive line, and some reinforcements or depth in other areas, but there are not really any dumpster fires to extinguish as they head into the draft. This allows them flexibility and freedom to move around, up or down, if an opportunity presents itself. It’s a nice position to be in, and the roster is as talented and balanced as I’ve seen it in many years at this point in the off-season.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris hosted the Colts’ pick number six, and pick number seven by the Buccaneers in the Daily Norseman 2018 Community Mock Draft.

Chris posted v5.0 of the 2018 Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database.

The Vikings announced their 2018 draft party, per Chris.

Arif posted The Norse Code Podcast Episode 229: Scouting and Rebuilding with Jonathan and Drew.

Vikings news from other sources and news from the rest of the NFL:

From Vikings.com, hear the guys at the NFL Network discuss the addition of Kendall Wright, the Good Morning Football crew discusses the Vikings’ Super Bowl potential, Wobby opens the Pick Six Mailbag, and there’s lots more weekend additions to sift through in the media vault.

From the Strib, Coach Zimmer may continue calling the defensive plays in 2018.

From NFL.com, AJ Green thinks the Giants thinking of trading Odell Beckham Jr. is ‘stupid’.

At CBS Sports, they say Gronkowski is frustrated with Bilichick and will play next year, under one condition.

The LA Chargers (still feels weird to type LA Chargers) have signed Geno Smith to a one-year deal, per NFL.com.

We come to today’s media selection.

Man, I’m excited to see this kid back in action for the good guys, here’s a highlight film of Dalvin Cook’s 2017 season. I’m rooting hard for this kid.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the hog maws.
