We’re kicking off draft week!

Merry Monday, everyone!

Finally, draft week is upon us. Just a few short days until we hear “The Minnesota Vikings are on the clock”, and then we hope to see them have a successful draft, as they had last year. I don’t think there’s any certainty which route they’ll take with the draft, and after seeing them shift strategy dramatically in free agency, I wonder if we’ll see a change in draft strategy as well. We’ll find out in a few short days.....finally.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris is nearing the end of the 2018 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, as the Falcons picked at 26, and the Saints picked at number 27.

With five days to the draft (when the story was written), Chris looks at who may be the best fifth-round pick in Vikings history. Chris also took a look at who may be the best fourth-round pick in team history.

Eric posted a detailed schedule for the Vikings’ 2018-19 season.

Saxyprince posted Climbing the Podcast Episode 84 [King Kunle].

Chris posted the final Minnesota Vikings Mock Draft Database.

MarkSP18 posted his Vikings Mock Draft 4.21.

The writers at ESPN are predicting a good season for the Vikings, Chris looks at how good they’re predicting them to be.

Chris takes a look at how accurate mock drafts have been for the Vikings in recent history. I’m guessing the mocks that consist of 25 trades and give the team 30 draft picks don’t turn out to be very accurate. I’m just guessing, though.

Wludford does an assessment of the Speilman drafts.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

Over at the Strib, they wonder whether the Vikings would be better off trading up or down in the draft. There’s no way to know unless you know what is offered and accepted for both scenarios, but that’s just my opinion.

At Vikings.com, catch a highlight video of last year’s defense, there are highlights of last week’s off-season activities, and quite a bit more for you to browse through in the media vault.

At the Dallas News, the Cowboys are facing a few cold realities as they head into the draft. Kicking the can down the road is fun and all, but the day of reckoning comes around at some point.

ESPN looks at the Browns’ 67 year history of drafting quarterbacks. If you’re a Browns fan, you may want to have a drink or two before opening that one.

Wow, this isn’t common, a punter trade. The Giants made a trade to acquire Riley Dixon, punter, from the Broncos, per NFL.com.

We come to today’s media selection:

Hey, this band came up in conversation, so let’s play one from Leftover Salmon. This is another one that southparkskolman told me about, great stuff!

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage.
