Anyone that’s followed the site for any length of time knows that most of us here are big fans of NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock. Frankly, I wish he was still doing preseason games for the Minnesota Vikings, as he did before the Vikings decided to go with a simulcast for their preseason games. Tonight, Mayock released his one mock draft for 2018, and he gave the Vikings a player I think a lot of us would be happy with.
With the 30th pick in his 2018 Mock Draft, Mayock gave the Vikings the upgrade at guard they need in Texas-El Paso guard Will Hernandez.
Hernandez lapped the field in our Mock Draft Database for much of the pre-draft process, and it would be pretty great for the Vikings if he did fall to #30 overall. I’m not sure if it’s going to happen, but it’s something that I, personally, am going to be hoping for.
If you’re curious about the other offensive linemen in Mayock’s one-round mock, here’s where he had the rest of them going.
- Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame - #5 overall to Denver
- Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame - #10 overall to Oakland
- Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas - #21 overall to Cincinnati
- Isaiah Wynn, G, Georgia - #22 overall to Indianapolis
- Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA - #23 overall to New England
Those were the offensive linemen that went before Hernandez, which makes him the sixth offensive lineman off the board. Mayock had the Patriots doubling up on offensive linemen, as he also had them selecting Iowa center/guard James Daniels at #31.
