NFL: NFL Draft Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Monday, everyone!

I hope everyone had a great draft weekend, with lots of food, drink, and purple-clad camaraderie. Our annual draft party went great, the company was good, the food was fresh off the smoker, the beer was cold, and the attendees were all wearing purple. What more can you ask for?

I’ll share my opinion on the picks for the comments section. Actually, I’ll save my real opinion on the picks for the comments section in a couple years, but in the meantime, we’ll have plenty of speculation, over-reaction, under-reaction, pessimism, optimism, and all the things that make our little corner of the purple internet world a great place to be. I’m guessing MarkSP18 LOVED our fifth-round selection. Hee-hee. SKOL!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris introduced the complete 2018 Minnesota Vikings draft class.

Over at DN’s financial news desk, Ted has the Stock Market Report:Draft.

Chris has a collection of the experts’ grades on the Vikings draft class.

Wludford shared his thoughts on the Vikings’ draft.

Rick Spielman was ‘that guy’ on draft weekend, per Chris.

Wludford put together some analysis on Colby Gossett.

Here’s a collection of DN coverage from draft weekend.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the league:

Over at, Eric Smith looks at all the picks from around the NFC North, there’s a highlight reel of all the Vikings’ draft picks, see Rick Spielman’s press conference, and there’s tons more to look through in the media vault.

ESPN has a pick-by-Vikings pick analysis of the draft.

Bleacher Report has their take on the worst picks of the 2018 draft.

Darren Sproles will be back with the Eagles, the vet RB and the Eagles agreed to terms on a new contract.

We come to today’s media selection(s).

Gotta have one for the optimists & one for the pessimists.

I don’t have a clue what to play for a doom-and-gloom song, so if you have something better, let me know & I’ll change it. I was going to go with Chopin, but I reserve him for the regular season

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
