Bud Grant’s annual garage sale is back again

Yeah, he said last year’s sale was the last one, but who cares?

Ah, the traditions of spring. The beginning of the Major League Baseball season, the Masters golf tournament. . .

And former Minnesota Vikings’ head coach Bud Grant once again pulling stuff out of the archives and putting it out in his front yard for fans to purchase for their own collections.

Yes, despite the legendary coach saying that last season’s sale was going to be the final one, it appears that he’s gotten the itch once again. So, starting on Wednesday, you’ll be able to get your hands on some of Coach Grant’s collection of Vikings’ memorabilia. I’m guessing there will also be some gear relating to outdoor pastimes such as hunting and fishing, if that’s more your speed.

In fact, this year the sale is so big that it, like Skynet, has apparently become self-aware and created its own Twitter account. You can follow it on @budgrantsale18.

So, what are the dates and times for this year’s event?

Well, things will get underway on Wednesday, 16 May, but hours that day will be limited as the sale will only be open from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Central time. There will be a full day of purchasing opportunities on Thursday, 17 May, as the sale will be on from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Things will conclude on Friday, 18 May, as the event will be open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The address is the same as always: 8134 Oakmere Drive in Bloomington. It still blows my mind that Coach Grant puts his address out there for the entire world to have. . .then again, I’m guessing that it would be awfully tough to have a garage sale if nobody knows where your garage is actually located.

So, are any of you folks planning on making a trip to the last(?) Bud Grant Garage Sale? Have you made the pilgrimage before?
