It’s finally Friday and the end of the work week for most of us. I will be here less than usual today and this weekend as my wife and I are running away together to celebrate our anniversary this weekend (it was actually a couple of weeks ago) but we had to each figure out our work schedules. If we get spillage from the Kluwe article to the open thread feel free to drop me an email and I’ll take care of the issue, in the meantime have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. If you’re local to the Twin Cities, don’t forget about Bud Grant’s garage sale finishing today, and if you go and check it out let the rest of us know how it was or what you purchased.
Around the DN since our last thread:
From Chris, the Vikings will hold joint practices during the week of the Vikings second preseason game with the Jacksonville Jaguars August 15th and 16th. Tickets are limited so get them ordered if you have the opportunity to go.
Also from Chris, the NFL network’s Gil Brant Gil ranks the Vikings’ offseason as one of the NFL’s best.
Vikings news from other sources and league news:
From Vikings.com starting in March of 2017, CB Terence Newman agreed to sit down with Vikings Entertainment Network periodically throughout the offseason, training camp and preseason and weekly during the regular season to document the Vikings’ season.
Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards like the unique group that makes up the Vikings defensive line.
From their lunchbreak series, ESPN likes QB Kirk Cousins chances to have a significant impact this season.
From NFL.com the Cleveland Browns will be featured in this season’s “Hard Knocks.” I’ll probably tune in to boo their defensive coordinator. I’m not saying his name up here, I don’t have a spoiler tag available.
We come to today’s media selection: Skid Row-I Remember You
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
