Merry Monday Tuesday, everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend. I hope you took some time to remember and give some thanks to those who sacrificed everything, giving their lives in service to their country, so that we can have the freedom we have today.

I’m not sure if it’s like this everywhere, or if it’s more of a thing up here in the upper midwest where winters drag on forever, and Memorial Day is that first long weekend with some warm weather, so you have those folks who are getting out in the sun for any meaningful length of time for the first time of the year. You know that this is their first real foray into the sun, because their skin has a lovely, glowing red hue by early Saturday, the ones who are 34 hammered by 10 am Saturday morning will have it the worst. I’m sure they’re feeling it today.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Saxyprince posted Climbing the Pocket: Episode 94 [Two Minute Drill].

From Chris, NFL.com has the Vikings’ defensive line ranked 4th in the NFL.

Ted posted a Memorial Day tribute.

Chris shared his opinion on how the Vikings should prioritize their pending contract extension decisions.

My favorite current Viking, Harrison Smith, came in at number 46 on the NFL Network Top 100, per Chris.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the league:

Our own Admiral Big Gun and Tailgatemaster.com donated 100 Fargo Invaders season tickets to residents, family, and staff of the Fergus Falls MN US Veterans Home. Really awesome move, ABG, I salute you!

The Packers signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis, per the Star Tribune. The 34 year old spent 12 years in Jacksonville. I guess you could say the Packers now have an ‘84 Marcedes.

At Vikings.com, the GMFB crew debates whether the Vikings or Jaguars have the better defense, Charley Casserly at NFLN thinks Dalvin Cook is a safe bet to go for 1,000 yards this year (I agree), and there’s lots more weekend traffic to sift through in the media vault.

At PFT/NBC Sports, they say that even though the Vikings landed Cousins, they still aren’t the team to beat in the NFC. The Vikings never claimed to be the team to beat in the NFC, but this is the off-season, so you’ll see these stories where they argue against claims that were never made. I honestly don’t think any team can claim to be “the team” in the NFC, there are quite a few very strong teams in the conference right now, it will be a battle.

We come to today’s media selection.

I usually play this one on Memorial Day, but it didn’t even occur to me that it was Monday and to post an open thread yesterday until later in the morning, so here it is, one day late.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags\
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
