It was a little less than two months ago that the Minnesota Vikings made quarterback Kirk Cousins the highest-paid player in NFL history (a run that has since ended thanks to the Atlanta Falcons’ new contract with quarterback Matt Ryan). It was sort of a big deal at the time, as the Vikings helped to make history.
Apparently, at least one group of folks was a little confused, as this alert went out earlier today via the CBS Sports mobile app.

To clarify, the Vikings have not, in fact, signed Kerry Collins. Collins might have the same monogram on his towels as Kirk Cousins does, but he’s not a member of the Minnesota Vikings. In fact, Collins has not taken a snap since Cousins has been in the NFL, having announced his retirement after the 2011 season.
It’s a harmless enough mistake, sure. But, as you’ve probably gathered, we’ve reached the point of the offseason where just about anything relating to the Minnesota Vikings is newsworthy, so we’re putting it out there for everyone’s consumption.
