Happy happy Friday, y’all!
Alright, so it’s been a long week, and I’m ready for a nice, relaxing weekend. The walleye are biting like crazy up here, and I can’t wait to get out on the water and get a few of ‘em. I may or may not work an entire day today, safe money is on the “may not”.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
There isn’t a lot of football news today, but there are some tidbits........more tidbits from OTAs from Wludford.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:
From the Pioneer Press, news that should cause heartburn for opposing O-linemen and quarterbacks, Danielle Hunter is stronger and quicker as he enters the new season, and could be in line for a monster payday next year. This kid has a chance to be something special, especially under Zimmer’s tutelage.
At Vikings.com, watch the players try to spell gjallarhorn, catch all the highlights from OTA number 6, and there’s a lot more to watch in their media vault.
Texans RB, Lamar Miller, says Adrian Peterson would help out the Texans, and he would like to see his team bring in the future HOF running back, per NFL.com. Peterson grew up in Houston.
Other sports news of note:
Hey, let’s take a look at some baseball, namely, my Atlanta Braves. I haven’t gotten a chance to watch much baseball this year, but I’m still a baseball nut, and keep up on my teams’ progress (yes, I meant the plural possessive, the Twins are still my second team).
Last night, they took on the Washington Nationals, with a chance to take the division lead, and they succeeded, with a 4-2 win over their division rivals. It’s sure been an exciting year so far. I’m hoping for big things ahead, another run like the 90s would be spectacular.
We come to today’s media selection:
Hey, I haven’t gotten to play this one in a while. This is by the legend, George Jones, enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume anything you read is sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
