Training camp will be here before you know it, catch up on all the latest Vikings news here!

John Randle #93...

Happy Monday, everyone!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend, I sure did. It was in the 90s here, and I LOVE hot weather, so I spent as much time outside as I could. The wind was pretty crazy, so I mainly stuck to doing some yard projects and hung out with the fam. I did do a little fishing on Saturday evening, but that’s about it. The river has been high, and it’s been flowing fast, so the bite isn’t as active as normal. Montana had record snowfall this past winter, and the rain has been falling like crazy over there this spring/summer, so the big river will be hit & miss for the near future (at least).

Anyhow, be prepared for very little football news (let’s hope, anyway, because any major news story this time of year usually involves an arrest or a foot injury sustained while kicking in a door to help a friend enter an apartment he’s been locked out of). So, we’ll have to fill our time discussing the other major life pursuits, like fishing, grilling, and baseball.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

From Chris, a cool story about David Parry, a free-agent signed by the Vikings this off-season. Parry has made a lot of changes in his life over the past couple years, after an arrest led to his release by the Colts. Give it a read, it’s good to see people who take steps to deal with issues they have, and move forward. Many don’t take those steps until much later, and after doing much more damage to their lives. Rock bottom is wherever you decide to stop digging.

Pro Football Focus put out their top 50 of 2018, and only one Viking made the list, per Chris.

The Vikings and U.S. Bank Stadium gave out their final “Places to Play” grant.

Chris has an interesting question. Who is your all-time favorite Viking at each position?

Wludford takes an in-depth look at John DeFilippo’s offense.

Chris shared the video of Diggs describing the Minneapolis Miracle to some of the Twins’ scouts and FO personnel.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the NFL:

Over at Vikings.com, they review last week and the wrap-up of OTAs, Gil Brandt lists his 10 most talented teams heading into 2018, and there are some other vids to sift through in the media vault.

From NFL.com, Chris Carter (who was selected to the Hall-of-Fame five years too late) isn’t really impressed with Terrell Owen’s decision to decline to attend his HOF induction ceremony.

Kenyatta Jones, former NFL offensive lineman, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 39, per the Sporting News. Man, that’s WAY too young, prayers for his family.

Earl Thomas says he won’t attend team mini-camp without a new contract, per NFL.com. The Seahawks mini-camp starts on Tuesday. Here’s a quote from Thomas

“I want everyone, especially the 12s, to know that I want to remain a Seahawk for the rest of my career but also believe that based on my production over the last 8 years that I’ve earned the right to have this taken care of as soon as possible.

We come to today’s media selection:

I just realized that I’ve never played Patsy Cline on here, and that’s a cryin’ shame. Cline had one of the most beautiful voices you’ll hear, and left this earth far too soon, only 30 years old. Here’s one of her biggest hits, enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer\\
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume anything you read is sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
