Happy hump day, everyone!
We’re halfway to another beautiful, warm weekend, I can’t wait. I’m thinking I may do a prime rib on the smoker this weekend, it’s been a while & I have a hankerin’.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
There are a lot of the “what if” stories popping up. Some are fun, others make your liver run away, in fear for its life. Ted gets in on the action with What if Dalvin Cook doesn’t get hurt.
Ted also asks What If.....Teddy. Okay, Ted nails this one, and it really hits home with me. I love Teddy, and I know (no, I don’t think....I KNOW) that Teddy was getting ready to break out in 2016 and start lighting up the league. Pieces were falling into place, and he was going to be the leader of our offense & the face of our franchise for the next decade plus. Teddy is one of those guys you love to root for, he’s good-natured, kind hearted, smart, and talented. Just an all-around good dude. When I heard news of his injury, it affected me differently than an injury to an athlete ever has. My heart sank, like the injury had happened to a family member or friend. I actually left work that day & went & had a beer (it’s possible that I had more than one). I thought he’d be back, I expected him to be on the field last year, and I still think he should have been. I still hold out hope that somehow, some way, Teddy will be back under center with the Vikings at some point in the future. I know all the reasons it likely won’t happen, but it just feels like it should, and I hope it does.
Over at Field Gulls, they ask What If Blair Walsh didn’t..........yeah, you know what they’re talking about. Go ahead and revisit that one, if you’re into that sadomasochism stuff. I don’t judge, but I’m also not going to join in.
Chris has some tidbits from today’s Vikings mini-camp session.
Chris has another Minneapolis Miracle video to share, so he does, because why wouldn’t he?
Vikings news from other outlets, and news from around the rest of the NFL:
At Vikings.com, catch Coach Zimmer’s press conference from after day one of mandatory mini-camp, see highlights from mini-camp day one, and there is lots more video to look through in the media vault.
From ESPN, the Rams have been ordered to pay $12.5 million to Reggie Bush. The judgement was for a 2015 injury Bush sustained due to unsafe conditions (Slippery bare concrete right next to the playing field is probably not wise, mmmmmkayyyyyy? Seriously, use your heads). Too bad they were never sued for the unsafe condition of having that POS Gregggggggggggg Williams on their staff.
We come to our media selection:
This was suggested yesterday, and it was a fine suggestion, and one I’m happy to oblige. For the record, Clint Black >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Garth Brooks. What is wrong with people’s taste in music (glances at MT_Viking).
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer\\
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume anything you read is sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins
