Merry Monday, everyone!
Hey, a happy belated Fathers’ Day to all you fellow dads out there, our role is an important one. I hope you were able to enjoy yesterday & got something you wanted. Kiddo woke me up & told me we had to go find my presents, then he proceeded to tell me what they were (but he made me promise I’d keep it a secret & wouldn’t tell anyone where they were) & then proceeded to find them for me. No secrets in our household with him around.
So, I got a gift card (that will likely be going toward a table saw I’ve had my eye on), and I also got a box of Andes mints, a Kit-Kat bar & a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. I got the candy bars because kiddo & I usually get one of those two bars whenever we go to Lowe’s together, so my wife thought it would be cool to pick things that kiddo & I usually do together. I got the Andes mints because Andes Mints are the greatest thing ever conceived by man, and there’s not really a close second.
For the rest of the day, we worked in the yard, because that’s what we enjoy doing. Then, I went and did a little fishing before sundown, because........well, do you really ever need a reason to go fishing?
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The ageless wonder, Terence Newman, is to be inducted into the Kansas State Athletics Hall-Of-Fame.
Chris brought us an Icelandic World Cup upda....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........................ wha.......oh hey, sorry, I was just resting my eyes. Where was I? Ummmmm, yeah, so, update on a soccer game, and it............wound up in a tie.......... or draw I think they call it. This is an important tournament of some sort, I’m told. Probably right up there with the t-ball tournament. You know, that big one toward the end of the year? I think they may even hand out ribbons & stuff afterward, probably take all the players out for ice cream afterwards. So, congrats to.........neither team for winning that one, I’m not sure how that works in the tournament bracket thingy. Do both teams just stay in that same part of the bracket & never move? Kinda like Purgatory? I’m not sure, ask someone in the comments section.
In what is certain to cause weeping and gnashing of teeth among the phhhyyyyyyrrrree wrrryccccxk crowd, Sports Illustrated ranks Rick Spielman as the NFL’s third-best General Manager. That would mean there are only......let’s see, carry the 1, pull back that finger.....Hey, pull my finger! Hahahahaha.......Oh, oh yeah, that means there are only........ two GMs better than Rick? If my math is correct, that’s what they’re saying. Seems kinda silly to want to fire the guy, doesn’t it? Meh, what do I know?
Kirk Cousins found a home in the Twin Cities. There is one potential small issue with the local school district football team’s helmets, per Chris. Hopefully, Kirk will be able to cope.
From Chris, according to Bucky Brooks, the Vikings have the best receiving corps in the NFL.
Vikings news from elsewhere & news from around the rest of the NFL:
From Vikings.com, they recap the week and the wrap-up of the off-season program, Wobby opens the Pick Six Mailbag, see Mike Zimmer address the media after the final workout, and there is more to sift through in the media vault.
We come to today’s media selection:
I couldn’t think of a good father’s day song, then I remembered this one by Red Sovine. Enjoy!

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins
