Merry Monday, everyone!
I hope everyone’s weekend was enjoyable, I know mine was. I did a little camping and fishing Saturday night/Sunday morning, and got a ton of yard work done. The gardens are looking magnificent, and I’m thinking of some new projects for next year. Now, we get to an almost equally enjoyable Monday, with a brand new work week ahead, with the hopes of some fun new projects and fervent hopes for no meetings. I avoid meetings whenever possible, sometimes I even avoid them when it isn’t possible.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Some Vikings players participated in “Skol Night” at Target Field.
Fans think the Vikings have one of the NFL’s best logos, per Chris. I just got an idea for a poll.
Chris shared a story from The Viking Age about the number of trees the Vikings have planted. It’s an NFL program where the Super Bowl host city’s team plants trees in communities across their state for the year. I don’t believe they planted any lilacs, thankfully.
Saxyprince posted Climbing the Pocket: Episode 96 [WHAT’S BEEF?]. Not sure if that’s a serious question, but if it is, saxy needs to get to the open thread, we have some bonafide grilling experts and grilled food aficionados ‘round here.
Nick Easton (who is the future, teach him well and let him lead the way) would like a long-term deal with the Vikings, per Chris.
Mychal Kendricks denies that Mychal Kendricks has signed with the Cleveland Browns, per Chris. I think everyone understands his reluctance to go public with such a thing, Makes me think of that line in Major League: “You mean here in Cleveland? I didn’t know they still had a team”.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the rest of the league:
At Vikings.com, watch a review of last week’s OTAs, Pelissero talked about changes to Thielen’s workout regimen, and watch Diggs tell the ‘no cameras version’ of the Minneapolis Miracle to some of the Twins personnel.
Clay Matthews was struck in the face with a softball and will need surgery, from the Star-Tribune. He immediately left the field, and later tweeted thanks to fans, and was glad it wasn’t more serious. He got to be on the receiving end of a cheap-shot for once. I’ve been hit in the face with a softball, and I can assure you it isn’’t fun (I, however, did stay in the game).
We come to today’s media selection:
Since I mentioned this scene, I’ll play it on the off chance that someone hasn’t seen Major League. If you haven’t seen the show, you can watch the clip, but then immediately go watch the show........oh, and slap yourself for having not seen it yet.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer\
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume anything you read is sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
