On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings family suffered another tragic loss.

According to his website on Caring Bridge (courtesy of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune), Bruce Grant, the son of legendary head coach Bud Grant, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday at the age of 57.

Bruce followed his father’s footsteps onto the football field, as he was a three-year starter at quarterback for the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 1981 to 1983. When he graduated, he was the program’s all-time leader in both passing yardage and total yardage.

According to his Caring Bridge site, Bruce Grant had surgery for a brain tumor in May.

A memorial service for Bruce Grant will be held on Tuesday, 31 July, at the Westwood Community Church in Excelsior, Minnesota. The service will be held at 11:00 AM, with a visitation one hour prior.

We here at The Daily Norseman send our condolences to Coach Grant and his family for their loss.
