Coming in to training camp, there were two big player personnel questions that had to be answered, LB Anthony Barr and WR Stefon Diggs.
A short while ago, one of those questions has been answered, although we had been told right before camp that probably wasn’t going to happen.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Stefon Diggs has signed a five year extension to stay with the Minnesota Vikings:
Vikings are signing WR Stefom Diggs to a five-year extension that ties him to Minnesota for the next six seasons, per source.

Contract details have yet to be reported, and as soon as we get those the story will be updated. But, Diggs is done. Now, for Anthony Barr.
With Diggs locked up for five more years, and hashtags all over social media presumably moving from #PayDiggs to #PaidDiggs, the Vikings now have the following players under contract through 2020, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network:
Signed by #Vikings through at least 2020: Kirk Cousins, Everson Griffen, Danielle Hunter, Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph, Riley Reiff, Harrison Smith, Eric Kendricks, Dalvin Cook. Now Stefon Diggs joins the list.

That’s a heck of a core group to have together for that long a period of time in today’s NFL. And depending on the deal, it’s yet another feather in the cap of the Vikings front office staff.
Not a bad way to start a Tuesday, is it kids?
EDIT: Per Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, the average annual salary for Diggs is expected to fall right in the $14 mil/yr range.
Stefon Diggs’ contract extension with the Vikings is expected to land in the range of around $14 million a season. That’d be right around the going rate for recent wide receiver deals.

EDIT THE SECOND: Chris Tomasson reports it’s in the $70 million dollar range, and will begin next year:
#Vikings WR Stefon Diggs agrees to a five-year contract extension in the range of $70 million. It will kick in for the start of next season. Diggs is making $1.9 million in final year of rookie deal. https://t.co/xbK5HcRbws

EDIT THE FINAL:
Diggs’ contract looks to be 5 years with $40 million guaranteed. Schefter and Rapaport are reporting slightly different numbers on total value, it appears, but they both agree on the $40 million guaranteed. Bottom line is, he got paid:
Vikings giving WR Stefon Diggs a five-year extension with a total value of $81 million that includes just over $40 million in guaranteed money, per source. Diggs has not had a 100-catch nor 1000-yard season, but he has lots of ability.

The #Vikings and WR Stefon Diggs have agreed to terms on a 5-year extension worth $72 million, source said. He gets $81M max. $40M in guarantees.

Happy Tuesday, kids.
