Good Morning!
We’re waiting patiently for training camp to start (nineteen more days until rookies and players who have not accumulated enough service time) report and at some point 1st round selection Mike Hughes is going to have to sign a contract. In the meantime we have our daily thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. The World Cup is still going on and followed by about ten of us, so I’ll update that event in the comment section as appropriate today, Friday and throughout the weekend, as always Welcome Aboard.
Around the DN since our last thread:
The Daily Norseman is looking for writers, if you’re interested contact SB Nation’s talent manager for team brands Jeanna Thomas, at jeanna.thomas@sbnation.com
In the “how much money did Hunter get?” Chris brings us the news of the breakdown of DE Danielle Hunter’s recent contract extension.
Happy Birthday to centarian Millie Wall.
Two rivals players will miss opening two games of the season, LB Reuben Foster was suspended by the league for drug charges and RB Aaron Jones was suspended by the league for a substance abuse violation, both will miss their respective teams game against the Vikings.
Ted writes “Pay the Man” in this case Stefon Diggs.
Vikings and league news from other sources:
At Vikings.com they have an article on the shuffling combinations of the offensive line and facing the Vikings defensive line leads to improvement.
Off-season highlights, today is the wide receivers.
At NFL.com Julian Edelman’s appeal of 4-game suspension denied.
Falcons HC Dan Quinn and Falcons players embarked on a USO tour of Iraq and Kuwait.
We come to today’s media selection: AC/DC “Money Talks”
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
