Today starts my first vacation in almost four and years. I’m flying to Denver today with my lovely wife and we’ll be at the game on Saturday. Look for my alcohol infused comments during the game thread, or the weekend thread whichever I happen to stumble into first. While we’re waiting impatiently for the Vikings preseason to kickoff we’ll continue with our daily thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. Reminder, rules are below, follow them and you won’t get a message from me. If you want to yell at someone or start personal attacks do it somewhere else.
Around the DN since our last thread:
Wludford has the Vikings offensive line: next man up.
Ted reports that Vikings will place G Nick Easton on injured reserve. Good luck with your surgery and recovery Nick.
Jonah has the panic meter, the training camp edition.
In case you hadn’t heard, Chris brings us the news that Nick Easton underwent surgery for a herniated cervical disc and his season over.
From Eric, five way too early Vikings training camp observations that are definitely (but also might not be) overreactions.
Ted and Di are back with Roughing the Podcast 48: the Training Campapalooza.
Vikings news from other sources:
3 Observations: Vikings fine tune before the preseason opener in Denver.
WR Stefon Diggs and CB Xavier Rhodes returned to practice after a day of sitting out directed by HC Mike Zimmer.
From their lunch break series, RB Latavius Murry is focused on and off the field.
Dez Bryant tells the Browns GM, “I’m coming to see you.”
Texans QB Deshaun Watson completes his lone attempt in return to football after last years injury.
We come to today’s media selection: The Go Go’s-Vacation
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
