Merry Tuesday, everyone!
I had an interesting day yesterday. I had an itch on my arm late last week, which I assumed was just a mosquito bite. It evolved from itchy spot to an itchy rash on my lower arm, then by Sunday, it was an itchy rash on both arms and both legs. By itchy, I mean...….well, I can’t even really explain it in words, Do you remember that episode of Beavis and Butthead when Beavis got that infection and spread it to everyone at Burger World? If so, remember how vigorously and constantly he scratched? Well, I kinda looked like Beavis (well, except my itch wasn’t in that.......location).
When I got up yesterday morning, this had gotten worse and had also spread to my neck. So, breaking one of my primary rules of life, I went to see the doctor, and as expected, I left there with no more information than I had when I arrived. He didn’t know what it is, but he doesn’t think it’s contagious (Yes, that was my first question, too. If you don’t know what it is, how on earth do you know it’s not contagious? I got a blank stare, so apparently they don’t like common-sense questions in that office). So, they gave me a steroid to knock it out. I don’t know what pumping iron is supposed to do to help a rash, but at this point, I’ll try anything. I never take meds, and I’ve never taken a steroid in my life, so I’m not sure how one normally reacts, but this has made me jabber non-stop. Seriously, non-stop. I talk to whatever I’m working on, make up songs about what I’m working on or about other cars on the road when I’m driving. I talk in various accents to my son & wife, I don’t know that I have shut the h*** up since taking the first one, and I’m almost afraid to take the next one in the morning. On the bright side, because of this plague or leprosy or whatever, I’m able to work from home! Folks at work don’t have any desire to be afflicted, and the picture of my arm that I sent was enough to make them strongly encourage me to stay home and work from here.
It’s not poison ivy, I was a medic in the army and have seen almost every rash, breakout, or reaction that one can get in the lower 48, and this is different than anything I’ve seen. I have no allergies, and I’ve never had any weird skin reaction, so I’m stumped. I really have no reason for telling the story, there’s no moral or cool ending (yet), but I didn’t have anything to put up here, so now you know something you probably didn’t want to know. You’re welcome!
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Vikes placed Nick Easton on IR and signed OG Kaleb Johnson, per Chris.
Speaking of guards, Dan has a story about another guard. This guard is...….a little bit unhinged. This guard is none other than Richie Incognito (Shocker!). He had a bit of an episode on Twitter regarding Coach Zimmer’s reply to a question at a recent press conference. Dude’s got some issues.
Chris invites all Vikings fans to join DailyNorseman Fan Pulse.
Wludford considers which position may be Aviante Collins’ best fit on this roster.
Skelly10 has notes from yesterday’s training camp practice.
Chris provided a transcript from yesterday’s Coach Zimmer media address.
Wluldford advises us to not sleep on Josh Andrews. I hadn’t planned on it.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
At Vikings.com, watch Coach Zimmer address the media yesterday, catch the GMFB crew as Schraeger opines that the Vikings could be the best team in football (I agree!), and there’s lots more new videos and highlights to look through in the media vault.
Andrew Krammer at the Strib likes what he sees from the Vikings ground game thus far.
From ESPN, Aaron Rodgers said “I hope we’re not that soft” when asked if other players may be displeased about his earlier criticism of the wide receivers and others during a practice. I may be wrong, but wasn’t Rodgers the one who was upset for a few years because Favre didn’t hold his hand enough and played mean pranks on him? Just wondering.
We come to today’s media selection.
For those of you who haven’t seen the Beavis and Butthead episode I referenced in the words up top, you should take time to watch it. Enjoy!
