Happy Hump Day, everyone!
We’re at the half-way mark of the week, and also the half-way point of the month of August. Real football will be here before we know it, let’s hope the team can enter the regular season with no additional major injuries. This is going to be a FUN year for we Vikings fans.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Dan Persons has news and notes from the training camps of our 3 NFC North rivals.
Ted shared a hint from PA that there could be a Vikings preseason trade in the works.
Chris shared the ESPN opinion (they actually get this one right, keep reading!) that the Vikings have one of the NFL’s best collections of young talent. I have to say, they’ve certainly improved at bringing in and developing young players since Zimmer and Company came to town.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
FoxSports looks at Rashod Hill’s development as he goes up against a tough Jags defense in practice.
At the Strib, hear how Coach Zimmer is taking steps to ensure the Vikes-Jags joint practices are clean. Just one of the many reasons I respect the hell out of Mike Zimmer, I am so thankful the Vikes brought him here.
Ben Rothlisberger is in concussion protocol after taking a hit during practice yesterday, per NFL.com.
Carson Wentz says it will be close when asked if he’ll be able to start week one, from the USA Today.
HC Todd Bowles thinks Terrelle Pryor should exercise his right to remain silent when he’s asked about injuries, from NFL.com.
We come to today’s media selection:
We may not have regular season football yet, but we have some hype videos to get us pumped up for the season. Here’s one of ‘em, enjoy! Possible warning: there may or may not be NSFW language in the.........music?......on this video, I had to mute it a few seconds into the video, so I’m not sure.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
- No discussion of politics or religion
- No feeding of the trolls
- This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
- Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
- Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
- No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
- If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
- While navigating the open thread, just assume anything you read is sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the lutefisk
