Dalvin Cook, Everson Griffen among Vikings sitting out today’s game

Not a lot of surprises in here

NFL: Minnesota Vikings-Training Camp Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

When the Minnesota Vikings take on the Jacksonville Jaguars here in about an hour at U.S. Bank Stadium, there are going to be plenty of players for the purple that will be sitting this one out.

Per the team’s Twitter account, here is the full list of players that will be taking a seat for this afternoon’s contest.

  • TE Blake Bell
  • DE Tashawn Bower
  • LB Kentrell Brothers
  • RB Mack Brown
  • RB Dalvin Cook
  • WR Stacy Coley
  • DT Curtis Cothran
  • C Pat Elflein
  • DE Everson Griffen
  • OL Rashod Hill
  • TE Josiah Price (who the Vikings still have not placed on IR)
  • OL Mike Remmers
  • WR Brandon Zylstra

Cook’s absence isn’t surprising, and I’d be surprised if we saw him prior to the regular season opener. Griffen has apparently been dealing with a cut on his leg and hasn’t practiced for a few days.

This also means that most of the starting offensive line is out today. It appears that the starting line, from left to right, will be:

  • LT Riley Reiff
  • LG Tom Compton
  • C Cornelius Edison
  • RG Danny Isidora
  • RT Aviante Collins

So, that should be fun.

We’re about an hour away from kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium, and our Open Thread for the first half will be coming here shortly. We hope that you decide to join us for all of the action!
