Mike Zimmer says that Cedrick Lang will be going on injured reserve

And there will probably be more where that came from

One of the main stories to come out of the Minnesota Vikings’ 14-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 of preseason action is the injuries that the Vikings suffered during the game. While we don’t know the fate of everyone that was hurt on Saturday, head coach Mike Zimmer has already clarified that one player will definitely be heading to injured reserve.

Offensive lineman Cedrick Lang will be heading to IR, Zimmer said in his press conference following Saturday’s game. Lang was injured in the fourth quarter of the game when he apparently got his leg rolled up on. The replay wasn’t shown on the broadcast, but that was my understanding of it from several folks who apparently saw it either on the broadcast or at the game live.

Lang, a native of Sioux Falls, spent much of last season on the Vikings’ practice squad and was signed to a futures contract following the season.

The Vikings are also awaiting word on the extent of some of the other injuries that their team suffered on Saturday. Rookie defensive end Ade Aruna and rookie fullback Johnny Stanton were both carted off the field with leg injuries, while offensive lineman Josh Andrews also needed to have trainers help him off the field after suffering what appeared to be an ankle injury.

Once we have updates on the extent of the other Vikings injuries, we will bring that news to you here.
