Daily Norseman Pick ‘Em & Survival League Sign-Up Coming Friday

Seems like the best time to do it

NFL: Super Bowl LII Experience Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve definitely waited long enough to do it, but our annual Pro Football Pick ‘Em and Survival Leagues are coming here soon.

We will be opening the sign-ups for both of those leagues at 5:00 PM Central time on Friday, 31 August. That way, it will kind of slot in between the final preseason game and the Minnesota Vikings trimming the roster from 90 players down to 53.

Per the voting in the poll we did a while back, we will continue not using the point spread for the Pick ‘Em League. If anyone wants to put one together that does use point spreads, do up a FanPost on it and we’ll put it on the front page for everyone.

We will, however, continue using the Yahoo! Sports “confidence point” system. That means that each week, you put a point value on each game based on how confident you are that you’ll get the result right. Your lowest point total week will be dropped, so if you have a week that you forget to put in your picks, you won’t be penalized too much. If you miss more than one week, however, you’re going to be sitting with a zero.

As far as the Survival League, for those that have never been in a Survival League, here’s how it works.

Each week, you pick one team that you think will win that week. If that team doesn’t win, then you’re out of the league because you failed to survive. If the team you picked wins, then you move on to the next week, but you can’t use that team again for the rest of the season.

So, if you’re interested in being in one or both of our leagues this season, be sure to get in on the action on Friday. There’s a limit of 100 people in each league, but if people want to put together more after the first ones fill up, then that’s always an option as well.
