Fans of the Minnesota Golden Gophers certainly don’t like seeing the words “Holy Cross” for reasons that are unrelated to football, but now the Minnesota Vikings have ensured they don’t have to see them in their football programs, either.
On Friday, the Vikings released quarterback Peter Pujals, who played his college ball for the Crusaders of Holy Cross and signed with the team as an undrafted free agent.
To say that Pujals never really had a chance to make the squad is a pretty accurate assumption. He didn’t get into a preseason game until the fourth quarter of the preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans. There probably isn’t a whole lot of chance that they bring him back to the practice squad, but at least he got the experience of being on an NFL roster.
The Vikings quarterback depth chart is set, and Peter Pujals is not going to be a part of it. We will continue to track the rest of the Vikings’ roster cuts going forward as they march towards the 53-man roster they need to have by Saturday at 3:00 PM Central.
