Vikings Roster Cuts: Minnesota Vikings release Mike Needham

Apparently they think they don’t Needham after all

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

We are continuing to track the roster moves that the Minnesota Vikings are making in their quest to get down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM Central.

One of the players that was waived in Friday afternoon’s initial group of cuts is linebacker Mike Needham. Needham played his college ball at Southern Utah, and went undrafted this past April. He was the player that the Vikings signed when fellow undrafted free agent Hercules Mata’afa tore his ACL during OTAs and wound up going on injured reserve.

Needham was a star performer at Utah State, and was even listed by our friends over at Revenge of the Birds, SB Nation’s site for the Arizona Cardinals, as their #1 undrafted free agent gem. Unfortunately for Needham, it didn’t work out for him with the Vikings, but he’ll likely have an opportunity to continue on with another team.

Keep it right here to find out who all of the players that the Vikings are releasing are as they get down to 53 players.
