Vikings Roster Cuts: Minnesota Vikings release Reshard Cliett

The journeyman won’t stick in Minnesota

In paring their roster down to 53 players, the Minnesota Vikings have parted ways with a linebacker that some. . .myself included. . .thought had done enough to make the final 53-man roster.

Numerous sources are reporting that the Vikings will be parting ways with linebacker Reshard Cliett.

Cliett was signed this offseason, and is the very definition of a journeyman, as the Vikings were his seventh NFL destination since being drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. It appeared that Cliett had done enough on defense and special teams to work his way onto the big roster, but apparently Rick Spielman and company disagreed.

It sounds like the Vikings might want to bring Cliett back to the practice squad, but we’ll see how that works out.

More cuts coming from the Vikings over the next couple of hours, folks. You can find all of them and discuss them with your fellow Vikings fans right here!
