We have some more roster cuts to report for the Minnesota Vikings, as they trim their roster down to the NFL-mandated 53-man limit by 3:00 PM Central today.
Per numerous sources, the Vikings have parted ways with cornerback Craig James.
(No, not the Craig James that. . .well, you know the story.)
James was undrafted out of Southern Illinois, and signed with the Vikings after a mini-camp that the team held in May. He got some opportunities as a return man in addition to seeing some snaps at cornerback, but he apparently didn’t do enough to stick on the 53-man roster.
No indication to this point one way or another if the Vikings are interested in bringing him back to the practice squad, but I would be slightly surprised if that were the case.
We’re still two hours away from the Vikings needing to have their 53-man roster finalized, and there are still plenty of decisions to be made. We’re tracking all of them for you right here, so stay tuned to see what happens!
