Weekend Open Thread: September 15th and 16th, 2018

It’s Game Day!

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning!

Hope your weekend is off to a kick ass (offense) start. Reminder that I’m going to be whiny because doe seaons opens in South Carolina and I was planning on hunting this weekend except Mother Nature decided to throw a hurricane instead. Good luck to those affected by the hurricane, I hope your home and family are safe. I am totally stoked for this Vikings Packers match up as the Vikings have better players at all the positions....boom, yeah I said it. In the meantime we have our weekend thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. This Sunday’s game day feast is going to consist of chicken on the grill with a fresh salad and beer...lots of beer. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. With that let’s do this.

Around the DN since our last thread:

Chris has the Packers injury report with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams listed as questionable against Vikings.

Lucas has some information on DeShone Kizer, in case that Rodgers guy doesn’t play.

Ted has the Vikings Injury Report with only Pat (elf on a shelf) Elflein sitting this game out.

Dan has your week two opponent news and notes, while you’re there check out Dan’s definitions and a weak fantasy football opponent attempting to talk trash to me. (I’m starting early with the trash talk, it’s all I have).

Two Podcasts for your listening pleasure first SaxyPrince with Climbing the Pocket: Episode 108 Packer week and Arif with Norse Code Episode 244: How to Beat a T-1000 (with almost-guest Michelle Bruton).

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com Head Coach Mike Zimmer joined Paul Allen on this week’s “Vikings GamePlan” to look back on the win over San Francisco, Mike Hughes and Sheldon Richardson’s Vikings debuts, and Dalvin Cook’s return.

Vikings preparing for Aaron Rodgers to play on Sunday.

Wobby has final thoughts: Ambiguity added to to an otherwise familiar showdown.

From their lunch break series: former Vikings Randall Cunningham and Steve Hutchinson are among the Hall of Fame class of 2019 Nominees.

At 1500espn Matthew Coller writes patience is paying off for Vikings’ DT Jaleel Johnson
and the Vikings aren’t giving Rodgers any extra motivation this week.

League news:

Consistent with the weekend thread I’ll post league news in the comments.

We come to today’s media selection: Judas Priest - You’ve Got Another Thing Coming
(by request)

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
