After yesterday’s 29-29 tie with Green Bay, there was a lot of speculation on the fate of first year kicker Daniel Carlson, who was drafted in the first round and beat out Kai Forbath during the preseason. The speculation is over, apparently:

Carlson, who was a little unsteady in preseason, missed three field goals yesterday, including two in overtime. The last one was with just seconds remaining, and it was a 35 yard attempt that would have won the game for Minnesota, and capped an incredible comeback.
To replace him, it looks like they’re going to sign former Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey:

Bailey, who kicked for the Cowboys for seven years, has made 88% of his field goals for his career, and 99% of his extra points. He had his worst season last year, making only 75% of his attempts, and went 26/28 on extra points as he battled a back injury and played in only 12 games.
So, welcome to Minnesota, Dan Bailey. May the kicks be ever in your favor.
