But it’s getting closer

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse — a survey of fans across the NFL, powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week, we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Vikings fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

It’s time to check out this week’s SB Nation FanPulse results, and this week we’re going to compare just how confident fans of all four NFC North teams are in their favorite teams. This week, three teams appear to be pretty optimistic. . .and, well, then there’s our friends from Detroit.

Of the four teams in the NFC North, fans of the Minnesota Vikings are still the most confident in the direction of their team. While it isn’t as high as it was after the Week 1 victory over San Francisco, 92% of Vikings fans are still confident in the direction that the Vikings are heading.

The percentage of Vikings fans that are confident in the direction of the team was at 97% in Week 1, rose to 98% in Week 2, and is now down to 92%. A tie will do that, I suppose.

The second-most confident group in the division is the team the Vikings tied with last week, the Green Bay Packers.

Prior to their season opener, 98% of Green Bay fans were confident in the direction of their team. That number dropped all the way to 78% after they won a squeaker against Chicago, but rose back to 85% this week after their tie against Minnesota.

Right behind them is the only NFC North team that managed to get out of Week 2 with a victory, the Chicago Bears.

Like Green Bay, Bears fans also saw a drop in confidence after their season opener, after they dropped from 93% to 82%. After their Monday night victory at home over Seattle, they saw a slight rise back up to 84%.

And then, as we said, we have the Detroit Lions.

The Lions’ 68% confidence level prior to the season opener was the lowest among all the SB Nation fan bases by almost ten points. After their blowout loss to the New York Jets in Week 1, confidence dropped to 32%, and after losing to San Francisco this past Sunday they’re down at 16%. The only two fan bases throughout SB Nation that are less confident in the direction of their teams (as things stand right now) are the New York Giants (16%) and the Arizona Cardinals (3%. . .yes, three percent). If Matt Patricia wants to get back into the good graces of Lions fans, he may actually have to start blessing the rains down in Africa. Personally.
