Happy Monday
Does anyone like the taste of s*** burgers? I didn’t think so, neither do I. Well, that’s what we Vikings fans were served yesterday, a gigantic s*** burger. I knew by the end of the Vikings’ first series that it was going to be a bad day, everything was noticeably off. Defense had allowed the Bills and their rookie QB to march easily down the field, and Cousins was air mailing throws like Josh Freeman. I worked in the garage and looked up occasionally, watched something bad happen, cussed for a while, cussed for a while longer, then went back to work. And cussed some more.
If this type of game has to happen once a year, I’d prefer regular season week 3 over the NFC Championship Game. That’s about the only positive statement I can make about the mess that we watched yesterday. I hope to never see such a poor showing again. What makes it even worse is that it’s Monday, one of the best days of the week, and I’m not realizing the full enjoyment I should be experiencing as the work week begins. The team not only ruined my 3-hour break from reality on Sunday, but they’ve made my Monday less enjoyable as well. I blame Ponder.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Dennis Green was inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor during halftime of yesterday’s “game”. At least the fans had a reason to cheer one time during the three-hour debacle they had to sit through.
Dan Persons has your post-game wrap-up, if you care to relive any of it.
Chris has the Stock Market Report: Bills.
Vikings news from other sources and news from around the league:
Here’s a link to the Vikings.com media vault. Go ahead and look through to find something, I don’t care to right now.
Here are all the week 3 scores with highlights, from ESPN.
We come to today’s media selection:
The most fitting thing I could think to play today. I wish I could have found the entire movie for you.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
- No discussion of politics or religion
- No feeding of the trolls
- This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
- Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
- Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
- No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
- If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
- While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the head cheese.
