Friday Open Thread: September 28th, 2018

It’s Friday!

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning!

I’m setting up the thread right after the game ended, you’d think with the offense scoring 31 points the Vikings would win, but isolating a LB on a WR doesn’t seem like a winning combination if your favorite team is on defense. Lots to look at during this mini-bye on both sides of the ball. Anyway during this mini-by while we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. With that, let’s do this.

Around the DN since our last thread:

Dan relays the news that Everson Griffen released a statement today, good luck to him.

Rams Outlast Vikings in a Shootout, 38-31, a round up of last night’s action by Dan.

Finally from Chris It’s all fun and games until someone loses a finger.

Vikings news from other sources:

Head Coach Mike Zimmer addressed the media following Thursday’s loss to the Rams.

Action Reaction: Vikings Encouraged by bounce back but say more to do better.

From 1500espn QB Kirk Cousins: Vikings will have ‘tremendous sense of urgency’ heading to Philly.

League news:

Jared Goff’s historic night leads Rams past Vikings.

Everson Griffen ‘focused on resolving personal issues’

Broncos TE Jake Butt out for season with torn ACL.

NFL/NFLPA: Protocol not violated on NE S Danny Chung concussion.

We come to today’s media selection: John Randle-The Chicken Commercial

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
