We anxiously count down the final days and hours until Sunday’s kickoff, this season could be

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

We’re halfway through this week, which is a short week for many of us, but it still feels like it’s longer than usual, as we impatiently wait for Sunday to arrive. The Vikings kick off what we fans hope to be a magical and historic season at home against the 49ers. Will the 49ers complete the turnaround they began the second half of last year, and show that they are for real? Was their second half just a team with a new QB to rally behind with a fairly soft schedule and nothing to lose, and revert back to their pre-Gar......Garrop..... how they played before they got their new QB? We’ll find out soon enough, their first test is a tough one.

I’m chomping at the bit for this season, it’s gonna be a fun one. Does anyone have any smoker or grilling plans for Sunday? It’s also getting close to crock pot season, so the options are endless. I’m still deciding, but a prime rib sounds better every time I think about it.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Wludford gives you his 2018-19 Vikings season predictions.

Chris shared the report that Danny Isidora will be the starting at center for the Vikings on Sunday.

The Vikings chose their team captains for the new season, Wludford has all the details.

Chris has the spot for all the latest news and stories related to the Vikings opener.

Vikings news from other sources and news from around the NFL:

At Vikings.com, catch the guys at ‘Move the Sticks’ as they preview week one, meet Kirk Cousins on ‘Beyond the Gridiron’, catch up with Chad Greenway and what he has been doing in his post-NFL life as he talks with Wobby, and there is a lot more to look through in the media vault.

The Steelers say they are ready to start the season without their game-changing, premier running back, LaVeon Bell. Bell and the Steelers are, once again, at odds over his contract, or lack thereof. That puts the Steelers at a disadvantage, but fortunately for the Steelers, they play the Browns, who specialize in taking an advantage, and turning it into a disadvantage.

We come to today’s media selection:

I can’t wait for Sunday, and I think we all feel the same, so let’s reach back a ways and grab one out of the 80s. The 80s had some awesome music, and it also had some horrible music, this is more the latter than the former. Enjoy?

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

  • No discussion of politics or religion
  • No feeding of the trolls
  • This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
  • Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
  • Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
  • No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
  • If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
  • While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up and tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and try the blood sausage
